OCI Application Process Made Easy

Taking note of problems being faced by some in filling the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) application, the OCI application process in USA is hereby simplified with immediate effect.

The two-step application process has been removed. It is now a one-step process. The applicant will now submit the OCI application form and upload related documents directly at the Government of India website (  ). On completion of online application process, the applicant has to print the form, related documents and affidavits and submit them at the Outsourcing Partner, Cox & Kings Global Services (CKGS) office in the selected location.

There will also be no restriction of Consular Jurisdiction for OCI applicants. The applicant is free to apply at our Consulate or at our Embassy in Washington DC and other Consulates in US. While submitting the application on the Government of India website, the applicant will need to select the location where he/she wants the OCI application to be processed.

The Procedure now to be followed is:

The applicant visits the Government of India OCI website mentioned above to fill the form and upload picture, signature and other documents, as required.

Once completed form is submitted a New Web Reference number will be generated on the form.

Print the completed form and submit it to CKGS through walk-in or postal option. Payment is to be made at the CKGS Centre only. Alternatively, the applicant can also send the physical form and documents by mail and enclose the fee in Postal Money Order or Cashier cheque form. The fee will comprise of (i) OCI application fee – as per category applied (ii) ICWF Fund fee US$ 3 (iii) CKGS service fee US$ 17. If optional services such courier service, SMS etc are opted, then an additional amount is to be paid.
