How to apply for OCI ?

The Procedure to be followed for Normal OCI Application/Re-issue of OCI Card/PIO to OCI Conversion/Foreign Spouse Application is:

1.The applicant visits the Government of India OCI website (https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome ) to fill the form and upload picture, signature and other documents, as required.

2.Once completed form is submitted a File Reference number will be generated on the form.

3.Print the completed form and then visit Cox & Kings Global Services (CKGS) website (https://www.in.ckgs.us/oci/) to continue with the process.

4.After the process is completed on both Government website and CKGS website, the applicant has to submit the physical application with all the documents (as detailed in CKGS website in regards with different OCI categories) to the Consulate’s Outsourcing Partner, CKGS through walk-in or postal option.

5.Payment is to be made directly at the CKGS Centre only for walk-in applicants. Alternatively, the applicant can also send the physical form and documents by mail with the fee enclosed in Postal Money Order or Cashier cheque form. The fee will comprise of (i) OCI application fee – as per category applied (ii) ICWF Fund fee US $3.00 (iii) CKGS service fee US $ 17.00.

6.If optional services such courier service, SMS etc. are opted; additional amount is to be paid.

PLEASE NOTE:

There will be no restriction of Consular Jurisdiction for OCI applicants. The applicant is free to apply at the Consulate General of India, New York or at our Embassy in Washington DC and other Consulates in US. While submitting the application on the Government of India website, the applicant will need to select the location where he/she wants the OCI application to be processed. The application has to be submitted to the same Mission (Consulate/Embassy) where the location was selected.

The Sworn Affidavit For Foreign Spouse Applicant can be downloaded here (click here) which needs to be submitted with OCI application applied under Foreign Spouse category.
