MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

There is no need to take an appointment. Applicants can visit the Consulate on any working day between 09.15 am – 11.45 am. The service will be on first come first serve basis. Before, approaching the Consular Office to seek required service, applicant must be ready with complete application form and other required documents, as mentioned in the Consulate website. This is important to render better and quick service to the applicants.

Please apply strictly as per your jurisdiction for which you have verifiable proof of address. Following is the Consular jurisdiction of the Consulate: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont

The Consulate reserves the right to reject attestation of documents, the contents of which are objectionable or contrary to the Rules.

Note: Consular Services are not provided to those applicants having Asylee or Refugee visa status.

Marriage certificate is issued on the basis of entries in applicant’s most recent Indian passport. Therefore, Marriage certificate can only be issued if Indian passport in original is presented at the counter or through mail.

How to apply (in person):

1.

Download the Miscellaneous Application form(Form F) and fill it up carefully. Each applicant is required to fill up separate Miscellaneous Application form(Form F) and affix his/her photograph on the same.

2.

Applicant (s) may submit dully signed Marriage Affidavit about his/her marriage. Affidavit may be separately submitted by wife and husband.

Indian passport holders may provide original and photocopy of the first, last and Visa pages of the passport.

3.

Those applicants who hold passport other than Indian, may submit original and copy of the current passport (other than Indian) and also original and copy of their last Indian passport.

4.

Original and photocopy of the document showing valid US Visa Status.

5.

Original and photocopy of any of the following documents as proof of residence: US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card, and Mortgage Deed.

 

6.

Carry all original supporting documents for presentation to the Consular Officer. Photocopies of these documents may be attached with the application.  Ensure that photocopies of these documents are legible.

7.

Fee:  A non- refundable fee of US$25.00 per copy + US$2.00 (two) towards Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) per attestation. The fee is to be paid in cash only. .

Processing Time: Application will be processed and handed over to applicant same day

How to Apply by Postal Mail:

Indian passport holders may provide original and photocopy of the first, last and visa two pages of the passport.

4.

Those applicants who hold passport other than Indian, may submit original and copy of the current passport (other than Indian) and also original and copy of their last Indian passport.

5.

Self attested copy of any of the following documents as proof of residence: US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card, and Mortgage Deed.

 

6.

Fee:  A non- refundable fee of US $25.00 per copy + US $2.00 (two) towards Indian Community Welfare Fee (ICWF) per attestation. The fee may be paid through money order/cashiers’ cheque in favour of Consulate General of India, New York

PERSONAL CHEQUES, CREDIT CARDS, DEBIT CARDS OR OTHER BANKING INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

7.

Please send a track able pre-paid return mailing envelope to the Embassy/Consulate at Consulate General of India, 3 East 64th Street (Between 5th and Madison Avenues), New York, NY 10065.

8.

Processing time: Maximum of Five (5) working days from the date of receipt of postal mail at the Consulate. This is subject to submission of all requisite documents by applicant(s).
