Passport, OCI and Renunciation Services through CKGS

Subject: Passport, OCI and Renunciation Services through CKGS.

In superssesion of existing Advisories associated with direct Consular Service at the Consulate General of India, New York, please note that CKGS is re-opening its online application portal for Passport, OCI and Renunciation services on June 10, 2020. Applicants requiring these services may apply through CKGS. No separate approval would be required to be taken from Consulate for these services. However, Visa and Misc. Consular Services (Attestation, POA etc.) would continue to be regulated as under: 

(i) VISA: There is continued suspension of all existing visas/e-visas till the prohibition on International air-travel passengers to India is lifted by Government of India. However, travel restrictions for certain categories of foreign nationals who need to come to India on Business Visa and Employment Visa, applications will be directly accepted by the Consulate. (ii) OCI: Travel to India on the basis of OCI cards also remains suspended except the following categories: (a) Minor children born to Indian nationals abroad and holding OCI cards. (b) OCI cardholders who wish to come to India on account of family emergencies like death in family. (c) Couples where one spouse is an OCI cardholder and the other is an Indian national and they have a permanent residence in India. (d) University students who are OCI cardholders (not legally minors) but whose parents are Indian citizens living in India.

(ii) Attestation: Miscellaneous Consular Services (Attestation, Power of Attorney, etc.) shall continue to be rendered by Consulate directly through regular postal/mail only. Applicants are requested NOT to visit the Consulate for over-the-counter services till notified.
