Gujarat Sthapana Divas

The Consulate General of India and The Federation of Indian Associations-NY-NJ-CT in association with Non Resident Gujarati Community of North America celebrated Gujarat Sthapana Divas on May 02, 2018 in the Consulate ballroom. The event was attended by more than 150 invited guests, dignitaries and the leaders of community organizations from the tristate area, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

2. The evening started with social meet and greet followed by Indian National Anthem. Jay Jay Garvi Gujarat video of versatile singers from Gujarat was displayed. FIA President Srujal Parikh delivered his welcome address and also introduced Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General of India in New York and felicitated him with a momento of Gujarat. In his address, Consul General welcomed and congratulated everyone on Gujarat Sthapana Divas and highlighted the importance and contribution of Gujarat and Gujaratis to India's national building. He also invited all organizations and individuals to India Day Parade on August 19, 2018 at Madison Avenue in New York.

3. An inspirational message from Mr. Vijay Rupani, Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, was very well received by the audience. It was read by Shri Yogeshbhai Patel, MP of Vadodara. The book “The Gurukul Chronicles” by author Radhika Meganathan was launched by the dignitaries, including the Consul General. Traditional Gujarati folk performances in colorful costumes were presented by members of India Performing Arts Center and of SBU Raas group in New York including live songs from local singers.

4. Event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Tushar Patel, committee member of Gujarat Sthapana Divas followed by traditional Gujarati food.
