Seminar on Legal Issues related to Real Estate in India

 

 

The Consulate General of India, New York organized a seminar on ‘Legal Issues related to Real Estate in India’ in association with Legal experts from India and the USA at the Consulate on Thursday, September 12, 2013. The programme was attended by large number of Real Estate Lawyers, and members of NRI community.

Deputy Consulate General, Dr. Devyani Khobragade extended her warm welcome and greetings to the guests which was followed by a formal introduction and brief speech by Consul General Amb. Dnyaneshwar Mulay.

 

Mr. Rahul Chitnis,  advocate registered with the bar council of Maharashtra and Goa, who opened the Panel discussion, focused on the issues individuals have in the Indian real estate market and managing challenges and achieving goals.  Mr Anand Ahuja, Attorney at Law, New York,  spoke on sale-purchase, inherited, gift tax, estate duty, agricultural land and capital gain tax and other related matters. Ms Domenica Bizzoca, Real Estate Attorney, New York spoke particularly on affordable housing, lease matters and purchase and sale of residential properties.  Ms Sonali Chandra of Sonali Capital Partners, LLC, New York, who was also the moderator discussed on American companies pursuing real estate opportunities in India

 

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session followed by light refreshments.
