Announcement of 'Online Music Academy in affiliation with Shankar Mahadevan Music Academy' and 'Sur Taal aur Sanskaar' at Consulate General of India, New York

On April 28, 2014 in the Ball Room of the Consulate General of India, New York, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan announced of opening of "Online Music Academy in affiliation with Shankar Mahadevan Music Academy" and a TV-serial named "Sur Taal aur Sanskaar".

Consul General Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay speaking on the occasion described the impact of Indian Music on the American continent through the visionaries like Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain, others as well as Bollywood movies. He appealed the younger generation to take advantage of the innovative online program and actual TV serial being started for the US residents.

The launching ceremony was attended by many important persons of Indian community which included Mr H R Shah, Chairman of 'Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan' and CEO of 'TV Asia'; Dr Navin Mehta, President of the 'Trustee Committee of the Bhavan and Mr Sudhir Vaishnav who has worked for the project.

The event was made lively by the presence of Mr Shankar Mahadevan himself and his rendering of 'Ganesh Stuti'. Mr Mahadevan also explained his transition from an IT professional to a musician and his willingness to promote the Indian classical music beyond the boundary and any age-group.

Mr Deepak H Dave, Executive Director of the Bhavan conducted the programme, read the message of Bhavan's founder of US-Chapter Dr P Jayaraman.

Dr Parveen Chopra thanked the guests for their interest in the Bhavan and its activities. The programme ended with the reception.
